May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a time to shed light on the importance of mental well-being and reduce the stigma surrounding mental health challenges. At Lonerock Clinic, we believe everyone deserves access to compassionate and effective care.


This month, and every month, we stand with our community in prioritizing mental health. We understand that mental health is an integral part of overall health, and neglecting it can significantly impact your quality of life.


Why Mental Health Awareness Matters

Mental health conditions are more common than you might think. According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), 1 in 5 adults in the United States experiences mental illness in a given year.

Despite these numbers, many people hesitate to seek help due to stigma or lack of awareness. Mental Health Awareness Month is crucial because it opens the door for open conversations and encourages individuals to prioritize their mental well-being.


Taking Charge of Your Mental Health

This May, we encourage you to prioritize your mental well-being. Here are some ways to get started:

  • Pay attention to changes in your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Some common warning signs may include:

    • Feeling very sad or withdrawn

    • Making plans or trying to harm oneself

    • Severe mood swings

    • Changes in sleep or eating habits

    • Excessive use of alcohol or drugs

    • Withdrawing from social activities

    • Feeling hopeless or overwhelmed

Combating Mental Health Stigma

Mental health stigma is a serious issue that can prevent people from seeking help and getting the treatment they need. Stigma can make people feel ashamed, isolated, and hopeless. It can also lead to discrimination in employment, housing, and education.
